How to Run for Local Office @ Assembly Chambers

Have you ever wondered about running for local office but don’t quite know where to start?

If you think you might run this year – or only sometime in the future – a new half-day workshop might be just what you’ve been waiting for.

This new workshop:

How to Run for Local Office
Saturday, June 6, 9am to 1pm
Juneau Assembly Chambers.

Sponsored by the Juneau League of Women Voters, the Municipal Clerk, the Juneau Public Libraries, and the School District.

Registration is required and space is limited. Pick up a flyer at any CBJ Library, or register online.  Don’t wait – seats will fill up fast!

Participants will learn what it’s like to serve on the Assembly and School Board, the legal requirements for candidates, and how to campaign. They’ll hear from current and past elected officials and get a free printed toolkit with everything needed to know to be ready to run.

Maybe this is the time to test the waters by learning more about what it takes.

The Workshop is free, and lunch will be provided afterwards so interested citizens  can ask questions and learn about the the rules, how-tos, and pitfalls.
